their eyes were opened and they recognized him

彼らの目が開かれ、イエスだとわかった

　彼らは目的の村に近づいたが、
イエスはまだ先へ行きそうなご様子であった。
　それで、彼らが、
「いっしょにお泊まりください。そろそろ夕刻になりますし、日もおおかた傾きましたから」
と言って無理に願ったので、
イエスは彼らといっしょに泊まるために中に入られた。
　彼らとともに食卓に着かれると、
イエスはパンを取って祝福し、裂いて彼らに渡された。
　それで、彼らの目が開かれ、イエスだとわかった。
するとイエスは、彼らには見えなくなった。

  As they approached the village to which they were going,
Jesus acted as if he were going farther.
  But they urged him strongly,
“Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.”
So he went in to stay with them.
  When he was at the table with them,
he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.
  Then their eyes were opened and recognized him,
and he disappeared from their sight.
