we are all witnesses of the fact

私たちはみな、そのことの証人です

　ダビデはこの方について、こう言っています。
『私はいつも、自分の前に主を見ていた。
主は、私が動かされないように、
わたしの右におられるからである。
それゆえ、私の心は楽しみ、
私の舌は大いに喜んだ。
さらに私の肉体も望みの中に安らう。
あなたは私のたましいをハデスに捨てて置かず、
あなたの聖者が朽ち果てるのを
お許しにならないからである。
あなたは、私にいのちの道を知らせ、
御顔を示して、私を喜びで満たして下さる。』
　兄弟たち。父祖ダビデについては、私はあなたがたに、確信をもって言うことができます。
彼は死んで葬られ、その墓は今日まで私たちのところにあります。
　彼は預言者でしたから、神が彼の子孫のひとりを彼の王位に着かせると誓って言われたことを知っていたのです。
　それで彼のことを予見して、キリストの復活について、
『彼はハデスに捨てて置かれず、その肉体は朽ち果てない』と語ったのです。
　神はこのイエスをよみがえらせました。わたしたちはみな、そのことの証人です。
～使徒　２:２５‐３２～

 David said about him:
 　“ ' I saw the Lord always before me.
     Because he is at my right hand,
     I will not be shaken.
     Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
     my body also will live in hope,
     because you will  not abandon me to the grave,
     nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
     You have made known to me the paths of life;
     you will fill me with joy in your presence.'
“Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried,
and his tomb is here to this day.
But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath
that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.
Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ,
that he was not abandoned  to the grave, nor did his body see decay.
God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.
