Jesus said to her,
“I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
Do you believe this?”
~John 11:25-26~
The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, the God of our fathers,
has glorified his servant Jesus.
You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate,
though he had decided to let him go.
You disowned the Holy and Righteous One
and asked that a murderer be released to you.
You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead.
We are witnesses of this.
~Acts 3:13-15~
For what I received I passed on to you
as of importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
~1Corinthians 15:3-4~
In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.
~Hebrew 2:10~
Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
“Hosanna!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!”
“Hosanna is the highest”
~ Mark 11:9-10(Matthew 21:9)~
and whoever wants to be first must be your slave―
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and give his life as a ransom for many."
~ Matthew 20:27,28 ~
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though he LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand.
After the suffering of his soul,
he will see the light (of life) and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
and he will bear their iniquities.
Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life onto death,
and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. ~ Isaiah53:10-12 ~
He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
~Isaiah 53:7-9~
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,
yet we considered him stricken by God,
smitten by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
~Isaiah 53:4-6~
Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
~ Isaiah 53:1-3~
Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them,
“We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
He will be handed over to the Gentiles.
They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”
~Luke 18:31-33~
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who gave himself for our sins to rescue from the present evil age,
according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
~ Galatians 1:3-5 ~
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever increasing glory,
which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
~ 2 Corinthians 3:18 ~
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
See darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
~ Isaiah 60:1-2 ~
